"The Stone Age"
"The Stone Age," by Chester Beach, the lowest of the three groups above the entrance to the tower in the Court of Ages. Men and women areseen in the elemental stage of civilization, close to the reptiles and the prehistoric animals. The group in the center, the man with the woman and the child, and the types of an older generation on either side, suggest the beginning of civiled domestic life. The bent figures close to the earth typify primitive man's relation to the beasts, which include reptiles and the prehistoric dinosaur.
